Jacques “David” Barjon, holds a B.A.S. in Business Supervision & Management from Miami-Dade College, alongside an A.S. in Paralegal Studies from the same institution. He also has a Graduate Certificate in Music Business Law and Finance from Berklee College of Music and a Graduate Certificate in Media Law from NYU. Although David has 3 years’ experience working as a litigation paralegal, his expertise lies as an in-house paralegal and contract specialist. David previously worked in Miami for Estefan Enterprises, a multi-media & entertainment company, as the sole in-house corporate paralegal. He handled all HR related regulatory and compliance matters, as well as, entity formations, dissolutions, corporate merger agreements, and UCC filings, etc. His mandate also included the maintenance and allocation of artist royalties tied to various albums and music projects with Sony and Universal and maintained the financial statements dealing with their P&L, operational cash flow, and budget waterfalls for film productions (tied to the CFO’s general ledger, of course!).

He is currently the in-house Senior Paralegal for Dentsu Creative in Manhattan, a multi-media and advertising firm. As the Senior Paralegal in the US for the Creative Department specializing in media/entertainment law, he handles music licensing for TV commercials, talent agreements, artist union contracts, and negotiates commercial/vendor contracts pertaining to production services.

David also had extensive experience being the Treasurer of a non-profit Unincorporated Association in Miami called Beach & Bay Partners – helping un-housed individuals get proper care and services. In this capacity, David was the gatekeeper of all transactions, reconciled bank statements, prepared financial reports outlying exposures and projected shortfalls in the budget. This role also allowed David to develop skills in policy writing as he was integral in the creation of the non-profit’s By-Laws and Operational Guidelines.

After being an active member of the South Florida Paralegal Association in Miami, David welcomed the opportunity to serve the NYCPA Board and its members as the Policy & Procedures Chair in 2022.
