Strategies for Continuing Court Based Advocacy During the COVID-19 Pandemic

When: Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. PT/2:00 p.m. ET.

Civil Legal Aid attorneys and advocates lead court based clinics, which provide legal information and assistance to older adults throughout the country. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, civil legal aid attorneys are adjusting their court based advocacy to continue serving older adults despite court closures. This training will share strategies for civil legal aid to continue providing court based services, such as obtaining protective orders for elder abuse victims, without jeopardizing the health of clients or advocates. Presenters will provide examples of how courts and advocates across the country are adjusting to keep court services available during this crisis.

Presenters:

  • Dani Kaiserman, Bet Tzedek Legal Services
  • Vivianne Mbaku, Justice In Aging, NCLER

Closed captioning will be available on this webcast. A link with access to the captions will be shared through GoToWebinar’s chat box shortly before the webcast start time.
