  Citizenship and Naturalization Clinic
Need 4 Volunteers. Spanish speakers appreciated.

According to the United States Citizenship & Immigration Service, only 40% of eligible immigrants in the New York City metro area have applied for naturalization. Citizenship provides immigrants with many benefits, including: voting rights, expanded opportunity to petition for foreign relatives within the United States and abroad, as well as access to medical and other benefits available to low-income individuals.

NYLAG is holding a community-based clinic to help qualified immigrants apply for naturalization and needs pro bono attorneys, legal volunteers (BIA representatives and paralegals) or general volunteers to help screen clients for eligibility for naturalization, review the necessary forms and documents, and draft naturalization petitions and fee waivers, if applicable. NYLAG staff will provide on-site supervision and guidance during all clinics.
