Message from the President
Dear Readers,
Did you register to attend the NYCPA Annual Election and General Meeting? There is still time to do it! All members received an official notification, list of open positions and other election materials. If you didn't receive your package, please send an email to nycpaparalegals@gmail.com with "Request for election materials" in the subject line. As a reminder, there are two positions open for election this year: President and Secretary. This is YOUR ASSOCIATION and the Executive Board of Directors is YOUR VOICE in the manner in which the Association is governed. They are YOUR VOICE in the direction that the Association moves forward and are YOUR VOICE in how the Paralegal Profession and each of you are viewed in the Legal Community. Don't stay on the sidelines!
In addition to the election, we plan to host a number of discussions on the topics of professional branding and how to stand out in a crowd. We are looking forward to seeing you! Don't miss this annual event!
Need CLE? Want to learn new skills or updates in the field? Don't forget to register for upcoming seminars! NYCPA is dedicated to your education and professional development. NFPA
National Paralegal Reporter Going Green!

As you know, many of our firms, companies, schools and associations have launched "Going Green" initiatives and NFPA is doing its part. Having received many requests from members to publish a digital format of the National Paralegal Reporter, NFPA has launched its own "Going Green" initiative. The June/July and October/November issues will be in digital format only. The remaining issues will be printed issues, also available in digital format. When selecting from the viewing options for the Reporter on the website, viewing in Flash allows page turning just like reading the hard copy of the magazine. We hope you enjoy the digital format and thank you for working with NFPA to help the environment in which we all live and work.
PRO BONO
A record 10,000 families sleep each night in New York City's emergency shelter system. Thousands more live doubled- or tripled-up with friends or relatives, unable to afford housing in one of the country's tightest real estate markets. NYCPA partnered with First Step Job Training Program to empowering homeless women to reach self-sufficiency through hands on job training, internships, mentoring, job placement and social service support, First Step benefits every member of the family. Spanish speaking volunteer’s needed to assist low and moderate income users of LawHelp.org. LawHelp.org is an online resource that directs low and moderate income people to free legal aid programs and educational resources in their communities. This is a national site, with links to legal resource websites in each state that provide legal education materials and referrals. The site is created and maintained by Pro Bono Net, an agency dedicated to increasing access to justice for the millions of poor people who face legal problems every year without help from a lawyer. For many LawHelp.org users the amount of information can be overwhelming, and they may need assistance to navigate to the relevant resources. Pro Bono Net is searching for volunteers to join a new national LiveHelp program to assist users in navigating a forthcoming Spanish version of LawHelp.org. Volunteers will live chat with users, ask users questions and, based on their responses, provide direction within the site so users can find the resources they are looking for.

BENEFITS
Do you want to know what benefits we are offering? Log into the Member’s Only page.
More member's benefits can be found on www.paralegals.org.
The NYCPA is pleased to offer its Members direct access to the MyLegal.com directory. As paralegals, too much of our time is often spent on finding qualified legal vendors. Wading through countless Google search results, with no assurance that the person or company being hired is qualified, reputable and will charge a reasonable rate, is time consuming, inefficient and ineffective. MyLegal.com offers lawyers and paralegals a resource that aggregates all of the information we’re looking to find – products or services anywhere in the world, written reviews from other lawyers and paralegals – along with discounts and special deals. We provide a breadth of relevant content through our website. This is just one more way for our Association to keep key resources in front of our members. Click HERE to visit MyLegal.com and learn about its services. You can read more about our affiliation with MyLegal.com by clicking HERE.
