Current President
I am pleased to address you for the first time as your president. I am exited about the future of New York City Paralegal Association, the paralegal profession and hope that you share my excitement. In time, our economy will improve and the paralegal profession will continue to soar. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the paralegal profession remains to be one of the fastest growing industries in the country.
It is my job as your President together with our Board of Directors to continue to promote our profession and help all our members to achieve their goals.
I invite you to work with the leaders of this association to make it great. Our strength comes from the diverse, talented and dynamic membership body we have. Our hardworking board has volunteered hundreds of hours of their personal time to bring about new initiatives to the NYCPA. This team has devised new ways to do public outreach, communicate and connect our members, implemented new social media platforms, added new directors to our leadership body and connected with many other paralegal associations all over the country and other parts of the world.
The New York City Paralegal Association has more to accomplish and we need our members to help us. Your participation, support and feedback are essential to our growing success.
Below just a few examples on how you can help make our association stronger:
- Volunteer your time at our social, pro bono or paralegal related events.
- Help with tasks from our Leadership committees.
- Suggest legal software programs you are interested in learning about.
- Tell us about the issues you are most concerned regarding your careers.
- Answer our surveys and questionnaires.
- Nominate paralegal or legal professionals whose work or efforts should be profiled so others would learn from the best.
Our door is always open! Please feel free to share your ideas to our board of directors and myself with respect to improvements, meeting topics, CLE opportunities, or any other suggestions you may have.
For more information on, please be sure to visit our brand new website, sign up for updates and read our newsletters, including NYCPA Bi-Weekly.
Great things are on the horizon for the NYCPA, thank you for your vote of confidence. I proudly look forward to serving as your president for the next two years.
Sincerely,
Mariana Fradman, President

Immediate Past President
Welcome to the official website of the New York City Paralegal Association, newly incorporated on May 25, 2007 . It is an exciting time to be a paralegal, especially in such an exhilarating and highly energized city like New York . The paralegal industry is thriving with professionals practicing at law firms, working for corporate legal departments and even for government agencies. There is a growing field of accredited paralegal programs being offered, and according to the US Department of Labor, ours is a fast growing and progressive career, with the more experienced and formally trained paralegals being able to secure the best employment opportunities.
We have worked very hard at making this website an informative medium for our current members as well as for potential members. There are multiple links containing more detailed information about our organization, as well as many useful resources such as a viable job bank, links to our national association, directories of trusted vendors as well as an online version of our membership application. Our official newsletter – the NYC Paralegal Times is also available on our site, and contains interesting articles and information on upcoming events.
For our members we have also created an online forum through which paralegals and paralegal students can connect and network – discussing topics of interests, exchanging questions and advice as well as giving word first hand of potential job openings. This forum is currently being hosted through yahoo groups, and is available to current members only.
Our Association’s objective is to provide our members with networking opportunities, valuable career information as well as professional support in the form of Continuing Legal Education classes and exposure to conventions and seminars that will promote their professional advancement within their current position as well as to improve the job prospects for those seeking a more challenging paralegal experience.
For those of you who are considering joining the NYCPA we look forward to welcoming you as a member of our Association and I invite you to fill out the membership form enclosed on the website and send it in, or contact our Membership Chairperson Jessica M. Mieles for further information. We also encourage our existing members to join one of our many committees and/or become an active coordinator assisting our many committees and take an active part in making this association a viable and relevant medium for paralegal professionals in the New York City area.
As the Immediate Past President of the NYCPA it has been my distinct pleasure in serving this young and growing association. We have weathered the growing pains associated with a new organization such as ours and become that much stronger as a result of it. It was an incredibly difficult decision to resign my position as President a year early, but personal commitments required no less. I will remain as Primary Representative to the National Federation of Paralegal Associations until such time as I can no longer fulfill those duties.
Sincerely,
Shaun J. Pilcher, Immediate Past President
