Advancing Fairness In The Marketplace For All

This will be the last session in a series of student loan webinars. Private student loans do not often provide the same affordable repayment or cancellation options as government loans and, like government loans, are subject to heightened bankruptcy standards. As a result, growing numbers of financially distressed borrowers have no way out. This session will cover the basics of private students loans, options for some borrowers, common defenses to repayment, and strategies for successfully litigating a private student loan collection action.

Speakers:

  • Joanna Darcus, Staff Attorney (Community Legal Services, Inc.)
  • Robyn Smith, Of Counsel (National Consumer Law Center)/Senior Attorney (Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles)
