Your Retirement Plan - Round Table with SSA

NYCPA members are invited to participate in a conversation about retirement on Thursday, February 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Science, Industry and Business Library in Midtown Manhattan.  While some of our members may be involved in disability-related initiatives, this is the first time that SSA is reaching out to our members in their role as workers to discuss ways to engage them in a conversation about retirement.

Social Security is an integral part of every worker’s retirement plan.  Its programs and benefits help provide financial stability to workers and their families when they choose to retire.  Since the decision about when to begin receiving retirement benefits varies from one worker to another, representatives from SSA and DDS will provide up-to-date information about when and how to begin receiving retirement benefits.

The event will take place at the Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL) in Midtown Manhattan. SIBL is a host site for Social Security Express, a convenient shortcut to most frequently used online services.  SIBL also provides financial literacy resources to library visitors, free-of-charge.

If you would like to participate in this conversation that will include a brief presentation on Social Security retirement, a hands-on demonstration of Social Security Express and a discussion on how best to engage people in a thoughtful conversation about retirement, send your name and contact information to Shaun Pilcher at president@nyc-pa.org by noon on Monday, January 26, 2015.
