Robert E. Mongue is an Assistant Professor of Legal Studies at the University of Mississippi. His primary focus for research, writing and teaching is professionalism in the paralegal profession.

A 1976 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law, he has over thirty years of experience as a trial and appellate attorney in both state and federal courts. His practice emphasized litigation of contract, corporate dissolution, construction and real estate, trade secret and non-competition disputes. He also provided arbitration, mediation and guardian-ad-litem services.

Mr. Mongue’s first book, The Empowered Paralegal: Effective, Efficient and Professional was published in 2009 by Carolina Academic Press. The Empowered Paralegal: Working with the Elder Client is scheduled for publication this year. The Empowered Paralegal Professionalism Anthology and The Empowered Paralegal Cause of Action Handbook are scheduled for publication in 2011. Mr. Mongue is developer of Empowered Paralegal (TM) Workshops, Seminars and Custom In-House Training.

Mr. Mongue is the Co-Chair of the Scholarly Journal Committee of the American Association for Paralegal Education, and is a member of the Advisory Council of the Organization of Legal Professionals
