Setting Standards for Non-lawyers in the Legal Profession
NYCPA welcomes IOP Affiliate Members
The IOP/NYCPA Affiliation is working to create transatlantic competency standards, offered to law firms and companies with in-house legal departments who operate both in London and New York. We believe this affiliation/project will provide the following:
A set of standards against which IoP/NYCPA members can benchmark at different stages of their career
Provide individuals and employers with a structured framework for training purposes. Here in the UK we are working with a government approved national awarding body (i.e. an organisation approved by government to issue qualifications primarily to people who are in work) to issue qualifications linked to completion of the legal secretarial standards
Provide both individuals and employers with a basic career framework. Ideally professional designations/NYCPA membership grades should map against the relevant standards level
Provide both individuals and employers with a ready-made set of criteria for annual appraisal purposes
