David Shapiro holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Boston University; he graduated in May of 1980. In the spring of 1988, David began a twenty two year career in hospital administration, when he became the evening administrator for Beth Israel Medical Center. He had operational responsibility for a 900 bed teaching hospital in lower Manhattan after normal business hours.

Over the course of time, David became interested in Medical/Legal issues effecting patient care. In pursuit of that interest, David enrolled in the Paralegal Program at CUNY-Queens College in 2006. Mr. Shapiro received his Paralegal Certification in 2010.

David is married and has two sons in college.
